Dear Trident Cooks Knife,
You died today. Although I was saddened, I wasn’t entirely surprised… I knew your time was coming. Together, we’d chopped diced sliced and cut thousands upon thousands of carrots, potatoes, onions and garlic, and I knew that you were getting tired and you were a bit dull of late. You’d been through a lot. You’ve been dropped (several times… oops), put through the dishwasher ( not by me, no, no, by them!) and sharpened again and again. Tomorrow you’ll be in the rubbish bin. Don’t take it personally.
My old dependable chef’s knife couldn’t take the abuse I give it each day and snapped…literally. The knife was a true friend and we had enjoyed a long and happy relationship.
Even an amateur cook like me knows the chef’s knife is one of the key tools, but hey, I would have to sell both my kids into slavery and mortgage the house to replace it with another Trident. So currently I am thinking of a Global G-2 they sound and look cool.
“GLOBAL knives are made from the finest stainless steel material. The blades utilize CROMOVA 18 stainless steel, Ice tempered and hardened to Rockwell C56°-58°which holds a razor sharp edge longer than any other steel and resists rust, stains and corrosion”.
But I am not sure… I am still grieving and finding it hard to come to terms with the fact that my old friend has really gone!
I think I need a hug.
